In this study the chair of energy economy and application technology of the Technical University of Munich has conducted a complete energetic process chain analysis for different supply pathways for hydrogen. In addition to the energy demand, the CO2-emissions were shown in the balance-sheet and the costs for the hydrogen supply were estimated. The necessary generation technologies for a future hydrogen energy economy have been analysed precisely and the energy demand which accrues in all partial stages have been shown in the balance-sheet. Based on this data, single techniques were combined to process chains and analysed. The intention of these compared process chains was in case of stationary application the supply of gaseous hydrogen in a network of pipelines, while for the mobile use the supply of liquid hydrogen at a fuelling station was mainly focused. In addition to that the hydrogen supply for portable equipment has been analysed. The developed system made a fast and transparent calculation of the cheapest process chain possible; the comparison of the results also allows it to identify and quantify the cheapest partial stage.
